The music began in the early 1960's joining a band called the "Voltaires" later to become "The Dolls".
The photograph below was taken from the memory lane page of the Cumberland News 07-03-00

The music stopped for a while - I sold that beautiful Gretsch guitar to buy a BSA motorbike - until I met Fiona. It was the day of my divorce and celebrating in the local pub, the singer from the band ( Fiona ) kindly sang " Married by the bible, divorce by the law " for me --- the result was, I eloped with the singer and became a country music bass player !!
The first country band I played with was " The Maple Leaf Four " followed by "Silver Dollar " then "Country Breeze "who were at the time one of Scotlands top country bands. At the time of joining, the band where busy recording their third album with the fourth album a year later --- life was good, playing the best gigs and even some television. After the break up of the band I joined "Harper Valley " an excellent local band, but left to move to Crete

Whilst playing with the bands, I also played my guitar with local singer Geoff Dickens and can honestly say "we never had a bad night ".

After our arrival in Holland, a new duo was formed with an Irish singer, Leo Fitzgerald and under the name of "Old Silver Dollar " we had some really good times.
