Biography

   Hi folks. Just want to present myself. I'm 46 years old and my start as HAM was in 1983 under my call LX1RQ. Since that time, I had only stopped during 1 year my activities. First I lived in Luxembourg-city and there it was rather difficult to built up antennas and so I had as only antenna a FD4 and my principal activties were on 80m during my first years as lincesed amateur radio. After several years, I moved my QTH to the north part of Luxembourg; to WILTZ (JN29XX). Here, I thought, it will be easier to install a good antenna, BUT, it was the same like in Luxembourg-city :-)) -- After a while, I installed indoor dipols under the roof of the house and I had an outdoor vertical (1/4 wave) for 40m. During 13 years I had run that system of antennas and I was astonished, how well the indoors had worked and of course the vertical for 40m.

   In 1989 was my move with the QTH to WILTZ and I started to be operator of the Jamboree-on-the-air station from the Scouts of Wiltz in 1990 (LX1JAR) -- In the following years, some little activities were started from that QTH near WILTZ. In 1995, the callsign LX9SW was issued as club callsign for the scouts group and in the year 2000, we received the call LX5A as contest-call !

   My antenna problems were resolved :-)) now we had a 6 element Beam (TH6DXX) on a tower about 15m over ground (not optimal, but not else possible), 2 verticals phased ( 1/4 waves) for 40m and the same configuration for 80m.

   LX5A made about 60.000 QSOs until today and they are all imported into the "Logbook of the World" and " e-qsl " ! If somebody miss his QSO into  LOTW  or eqsl.cc , then send please an e-mail to me. Maybe you also wait since a long time for a QSL-card of LX5A, LX9SW or LX1RQ, so let me know and pse don't forget to write down the date, mode and time of that QSO. Some QSOs (about 15000) were worked under LX9SW by a dutch group of HAMS and this was in September 2001 !! If you miss a card of that period, so the manager is PA1KW !!

   During 2004, a new callsign issued to run contests : -> L X 8 M  (Qsl-info : via LX-bureau or LX1ER )
