The purpose of the Little Company of Mary Radio Amateurs is to provide licensed amateur radio operators to the Providence Little Company of Mary (LCM) Medical Centers in support of their disaster communications mission. The Club is sponsored by and operates under the auspices of the LCM Disaster Preparedness Coordinator. Members of the Club operate the amateur radio stations at both the Torrance and San Pedro facilities in emergency situations and in exercises. Membership is open to any person who wishes to support hospital disaster communications, regardless of religion, sex, race, color or national origin.
Members of the Club are encouraged to join the appropriate amateur radio disaster communications organization whose jurisdiction includes each Medical Center facility. Dual membership will ensure smooth inter-organizational operations in an emergency. Because of the importance of hospital disaster support to the community, full members shall consider hospital support priority in the event of a real emergency. |
If you are not presently licensed the Palos Verdes Radio Club offers classes four times a year at Hess Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. Morse code is no longer required. You can study on your own and take the license exam. Exams are given by Volunteer Examiners the last Saturday of every month at the W6TRW Swap Meet. |
