Telemetry --------- Formats Available: Any digital code (Morse code, radio-teletype, ASCII, etc.) can be employed since the format is controlled by software residing in the spacecraft computer which can be altered via the command links. General: Plans are to have the general beacons carry morse code to provide updated messages and selected telemetry channels. Engineering beacons will ude 400 baud PSK/PCM. Decoding the Engineering beacon will require a microcomputer and an AFDEM (Audio Frequency DEModulator) that is connected between the ground station receiver audio output and the computer. Transponder 1. Mode B (70cm/2met) --------------------------------- Type: Linear, Inverting. Uplink Passband: 435.027 to 435.179 Mhz. Downlink Passband: 145.825 to 145.977 Mhz. Translation Equation: Downlink freq. (Mhz) = 581.004 - uplink freq. (Mhz) +/- Doppler Shift. Output Power: About 50 Watts PEP. Uplink EIRP: About 500 Watts. Bandwidth: 152 Khz at 3 db points. Maximum Doppler (at Perigee): 7.7 Khz. Transponder 2. Mode L (23cm/70cm) --------------------------------- Type: Linear, Inverting. Uplink Passband: 1269.05 to 1269.85 Mhz. Downlink Passband: 436.15 to 436.95 Mhz. Translation Equation: Downlink freq (Mhz) = 1706.000 - uplink freq(Mhz) +/- Doppler Shift. Output Power: About 50 Watts PEP. Uplink EIRP: About 2000 watts.
