I just returned from Berlin and got a new IC-W2E. This unit has
frequency limitations. Not useful while travelling abroad.

But: the programming tips for the IC-24AT apply. The receiving frequency
range can be increased by "B" and "#" keys while turning on for aircraft
band plus 740 to 940 MHz band etc. Also the extended ham bands can be
received. Cross band can be programmed by "funct" "5" and "D" while
turning on.
To input the complete frequency via keyboard you must set the
"PL" to 100. <FUNC><8/SET> ans scan^ until PL .
