June 27-28, 2026 ARRL Field
Day
1100 June 27 for 24 hours
ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air event held annually.
More than 31,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups to operate from remote locations.
We will be operating from LMT once again as a 1 Foxtrot EOC station
For more than 50 years, military and amateur stations
have
taken part in an interoperability exercise between amateur and
government radio stations.
The event is open to all licensed amateur radio
operators.
The AFD Crossband Test is a unique opportunity to
test
two-way communications between military communicators and radio
stations in the Amateur Radio Service, as authorized in 47 CFR 97.111.

Gardena Public Safety Day
1000-1400 hours
Districts 3 and 17 will exhibit at
the
City of Gardena's Public Safety Day on Saturday, April 25,
2026,
at the Gardena City Hall complex
Our
exhibits feature
posterboards or looping videos showing DCS activities and how amateur
radio can
be used in major disaster situations, plus a display of
working
radio
equipment.
Unfortunately we were unable to participate.

DCS Quarterly Exercise
The Los Angeles Marathon starts at
Dodger Stadium and finishes at the Avenue of the Stars in Century City
Amateur
operators support water stations, Medical aid stations and the
Multi-agency Command Center at the LA City EOC
This
year's L.A. Marathon occurred on an unseasonably hot day and visibly
demonstrated the importance of proper hydration
Numerous
heat-related issues were attended to.
The
L.A. Marathon is a non-DCS event but seven members served as radio
operators from the DCS units at: Carson; East L.A.; Lost
Hills;
Palmdale; and three from Lomita/South L.A. (Steve T-101; Deane, S-50;
and Diana, S-60.)
