  • ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air event held annually. 
  • More than 31,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups to operate from remote locations.
  • We will be operating from LMT once again as a 1 Foxtrot EOC station

Armed Forces Day Crossband Test - Other Hours
  • For more than 50 years, military and amateur stations have taken part in an interoperability exercise between amateur and government radio stations. 
  • The event is open to all licensed amateur radio operators. 
  • The AFD Crossband Test is a unique opportunity to test two-way communications between military communicators and radio stations in the Amateur Radio Service, as authorized in 47 CFR 97.111.

Gardena Public Safety Day

  • Districts 3 and 17 will exhibit at the City of Gardena's Public Safety Day on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Gardena City Hall complex
  • Our exhibits feature posterboards or looping videos showing DCS activities and how amateur radio can be used in major disaster situations, plus  a display of working radio equipment.
  • Unfortunately we were unable to participate.

41th Los Angeles Marathon
- Other Hours
  • The Los Angeles Marathon starts at Dodger Stadium and finishes at the Avenue of the Stars in Century City
  • Amateur operators support water stations, Medical aid stations and the Multi-agency Command Center at the LA City EOC
  • This year's L.A. Marathon occurred on an unseasonably hot day and visibly demonstrated the importance of proper hydration
  • Numerous heat-related issues were attended to.
  • The L.A. Marathon is a non-DCS event but seven members served as radio operators from the DCS units at: Carson; East L.A.; Lost Hills; Palmdale; and three from Lomita/South L.A. (Steve T-101; Deane, S-50; and Diana, S-60.)

48th Annual
Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K/5K
  • Thanks go to our members who operated at the 48th Annual Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10K/5K alongside Redondo Beach Police Department Volunteers
  • DCS operators were: T-88; T-101; T-102; T-109; T-217; T-230; T-234; S-50; S-60; and L-04. 
  • Weather conditions were perfect for the roughly 8,000 runners/walkers expected at this year's 10K/5K along Redondo's coastline.
