I was first licensed in 1991 while stationed in Alaska (go Air Force) . I took my test and waited 4 long months to get my ticket. WL7CA. I passed my Novice and Tech. By the way I have WL7BG Trey and NL7YZ Jeff for getting me started on this crazy ham radio stuff. It didn't take me long after I got on the air to realize that I wanted to get on more frequencies. 13 wpm stood between me and General. It took me 3 times but I finally passed the code.

The Air Force then decided to send me to Germany. I got me a DJ7 call and worked Europe.

Finally I got out of the AF and moved home to Arkansas. I got a 5 call to represent where I was living at then. KC5HFB. Hot Fried Bologna. I decided to get the next license. Advanced. I passed it and got the call KM5KE.

A wife (Mica)and 3 kids later ( Cody Cord and Trey) I figured I had gone as high as I could. My wife suggested that go for the final license. W5WEC Glen and Joe K5BMD informed me the 20 wpm requirement was gone. What was bad is I had at one time gotten up to about 25 wpm. I took the test and passed.
I was licensed as AD5DI. I had always wanted a 1x2 or 2x1 call. I went ahead and shelled out the $12 and got the call KU5D.

By the way, my wife got her ticket. She is K5MNL and is working on her General.
