Prayer Letter March 2001

March 2001

Dear Praying Friends;
Thank you to those of you who have prayed for Stephanie's mother, Ann Daniel. She has had cancer for the last 8 years. Though we did not mention it often in our letters, we had tried to keep you up to date on major changes. On March 11 Stephanie's mom went home to be with the Lord. Thankfully, she was never either sick or in pain due to the cancer. We are thrilled to report that two family members accepted the Lord at the funeral!

We thank the Lord for His protection. I often say that I am most thankful for God's protection of us while traveling. Only on a couple of occasions have we actually seen Him at work in this area. Recently we completely lost the back brakes on our car. We were only traveling 45 MPH on the interstate, which means that we were in stop and go traffic. I was able to downshift enough to not hit the car in front of me. Providentially, all this happened right near an exit. I was able to make my way off and to a Firestone to have the brakes repaired.

Four hours and $400 later we were back on the road. The repair involved a complete brake system replacement on both rear wheels. The front brakes were not in bad shape, so I waited and replaced them myself this week for less than $20. We are thankful to our church being able to take care of the cost of the rear brake repairs.

We praise the Lord for new supporters. We have picked up one more supporting church. We have others that have promised support, but have not yet begun.

We were to have had an interview with Baptist International Outreach (B. I. O.) during the second week of March. Because of Stephanie's mom passing away we had to cancel that interview. This interview was to grant us final approval to join the board. We have been working on this process for several months. The board will provide guidance in legal and financial matters. Our final authority will still be through our pastor at our sending church. This interview has been rescheduled for March 27.

Our next letter will give you an update on how our trip to Mérida, Mexico went. Lord willing, we will be leaving on April 6 and returning April 13. We had wanted a longer trip, but scheduling has been difficult for those of us going. We will be able to accomplish the work that we feel is necessary in this period of time.

We have a new request this month that we would like for you to pray with us about. We would like to acquire a digital video projector. Although more expensive initially than a slide projector, the flexibility makes a video projector more economical in the long run. To buy a new one that would give us the power and ability that we need would cost us approximately $3000. Perhaps you know another Missionary that is ending their deputation and is trying to sell theirs, please contact us with any help that you can to provide. If you would like to help with the cost of this projector please send a check to the church with our name and "projector" in the memo field.

Please continue to pray for safety on the roads and that the Lord will provide the support in His time.

Sincerely,
