KINGMAN REEF 26 October DXpedition Announcement

For immediate release.

Kingman Reef 2000 Update

The team has made 35K Q's so far and 7K have been with Europe. No decision has been made regarding the contest but the feeling is that because they arrived a day late they ought to stick to putting K5K into as many logs as possible. There may be a small contest effort but that has not been decided yet.

They added more radials to the 80 meter vertical and the bandwidth dropped which is a good indication that the efficiency has improved. They intend to try for EU on 80 CW 1400-1515Z. They will be trying frequencies above 3523 for EU to avoid commercial QRM and below 3523 for West Coast to avoid the TCI modems.

The RTTY station up and running on as many bands as possible.

Many JA's were worked on 160 and the piles are thinning there. The tear down of the dxpedition will depend in part on the weather as it will take longer to load everything if the seas are rough. As soon as the ending time is known it will be posted here.
