About Me

People have asked me why I got into amateur radio. I've always loved meeting new people, telling stories and talking. I had a few radio shows on my college radio station many moons ago. Somewhere I still have my paper class "C" license for that. Since about 2015, I had been listening to SDRs and enjoying the ragchews.

Back in 2018, I read two books where ham radio played a big part: "Seveneves" by Neal Stephenson and "Solar Reboot" By Matthew Hunt. They inspired me more.

Later that year I had some time off, so I studied for the Technician license. I gave myself a month. Then I missed a local exam date, so I studied a bit more. I ended up passing Tech and General on June 2, 2018 and then the Extra on March 16 of 2019. I am having a great time on the air!

Outside of ham radio, my wife Wendy & I live near Los Angeles (DM04.) I work in TV and film, supervising teams of computer generated imagery (CGI) artists for many projects. You can see a full list of my work here.
