CY0 - SABLE ISLAND, NA-063
Maybe a little compensation for the cancelled CY0 DXpedition:
Alan,VE1AWW, holds a license since July and is working as a government
representative on Sable Island (NA-063) until Dec 29. He is active as
CY0/VE1AWW in SSB on HF with 100 watts and a vertical during his rare
spare time, mostly at the weekends. He is not QRV from 1100-1900 UTC.
QSL via homecall, direct or via the VE bureau.
---
Latest information state that the large-scale CY0 DXpedition, led by
Randy,N0TG, may take place in September/October 2011.
DU - PHILIPPINES, OC-244
For Nov 4-7 Vincent,F4BKV, is planning an activity as DU1/F4BKV from
Mindoro (OC-244/Luzon's Coastal Islands). He will work in SSB and PSK31
running 100 watts into dipoles for 15m and 20m and a vertical for 40m.
Vincent prefers to work during his evening hours.
QSL via F4BKV, via bureau, direct or LoTW. He has an online QSL request
system for bureau QSLs at: http://www.f4bkv.net
PJ2 - CURACAO, SA-099
PJ2/K2TQC, PJ2/N2MF, PJ2/W1NG and PJ2/K2NV are going to activate the
new DXCC entity Curacao (SA-099) from Nov 4-11. They favour RTTY and
the lowbands. QSL cards should be sent to their homecalls.
PJ4 - BONAIRE, SA-006
Hennie,PJ4/PE1MAE, will be active again from Bonaire (SA-006) for about
four months starting on Nov 8. After sprucing up his station there he
will work on all HF bands with his TS50 and a delta loop. This will not
be a "59 operation" since he has enough time for our hobby.
QSL cards should be sent via bureau or direct to PA2NJC.
TR - GABON
Vincent,F4BXW, will stay in the capital Libreville from Nov 3-23 and
plans to work as TR8GV in SSB. QSL via homecall.
V5 - NAMIBIA
Klaus,V5/DJ4SO, is going to hit the airwaves again from Namibia from
Nov 3-30. He plans to take part in the upcoming WAEDC RTTY Contest and
the CQ WWDX CW Contest on all bands. He will work mainly in CW, RTTY
and PSK31 (only little SSB) on 160m-6m. Like in last year his QTH will
be the farm "Heimat" southeast of Windhoek.
QSLs via bureau (an e-mail to [email protected] is enough), direct or
LoTW, no eQSLs!
VK0/M - MACQUARIE ISLAND, AN-005
Kevin,VK4KEV, will arrive on Macquarie (AN-005) some time between the
end of October and the beginning of November to work there for about
18 months. During his spare time he will sign VK0KEV in SSB und digital
modes mostly on 40m-20m.
Kevin was active as VK4KEV/VK7 from Hobart/Tasmania before where he
prepared for his stay on Macquarie.
VP8/A - ANTARCTICA, AN-016
Karel,ON5TN, will stay on the Belgian Antarctic station "Elizabeth"
again from Nov 10 until Feb 24, 2011. He will use the callsign OR4TN
but it is very unlikely that he shows up before December because he is
expecting much QRL during the begin of his stay.
---
Lars,SM4TUV, is working for the Norwegian polar institute which will
bring him to the Norwegian polar research station "Troll" on Dronning
Maud Land from November 2010 until December 2011. His call is 3Y8XSA.
QSL via SM4TUV.
More information about the Antarctic station "Troll" can be found at:
http://npweb.npolar.no/plattformer/troll and http://npweb.npolar.no
YS - EL SALVADOR
The callsigns YS1YS, HU1YS and YS1FRACAP will be activated during the
exhibition FRACAP (Federacion de Radio Aficionados de Centro America
y Panama) which takes place in San Salvador from Nov 5-7.
The QSLs for all three calls should be sent to YS1GMV.
6W - SENEGAL
Matthias (DL5MFL), Juergen (DL4MAQ) and Sven (DF9MV) are planning a
DXpedition to Senegal from Nov 8-18. They are going to visit the resort
of Francois (http://www.le-calao.com) and think of a "dedicated holiday
style operation". A callsign for the team (6V7xx) has been applied for
and more information will follow as soon the licence is available.
They will use yagis for 6m/10m/15m/20m, a square for 40m, a vertical
for 40m/80m/160m zur and wire antennas for the WARC bands. They plan to
work with two stations at the same time mainly in CW/SSB, maybe PSK31.
They have a survey on their website to find out which bands and modes
are most needed and promised to focus on them:
http://dl4maq.wordpress.com/category/6w8-2010
QSL cards should be sent via bureau or direct via Fredy, DE0MST.
7Q - MALAWI
Harry,7Q7HB (G0JMU), is drawn to warmer climes and stays in Malawi
again until January 2011. He is working in CW and digital modes on HF.
His QSL manager G0IAS accepts QSL cards only direct.
CYPRUS, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
Alan,5B4AHJ, made his first HAM radio exam 50 years ago which is a
good reason to activate the special callsign 5B50J for one year.
Alan is working in SSB and CW until Oct 25, 2011. QSL via 5B4AHJ.
GERMANY, SPECIAL EVENT STATION
The festivities of the 20th anniversary of the German reunification
are taking place in Bremen this year. Thus the amateur radio club in
Bremen (I04) activates the special callsign DL20Y2DM until Aug 31,2011.
The special DOK is 20DEI04.
SOUTH ATLANTIC/SOUTH AMERICA TRIP
Svein,LA6IKA, started a three months trip to South America and the
South Atlantic on Oct 28. He starts from Tierra del Fuego (SA-008) and
uses the callsign LU/LA6IKA from there. Onboard the "MV Fram" he is
heading towards Antarctica from Nov 1-19. The ship will anchor at the
Falklands and South Georgia and Svein hopes to obtain a VP8 licence in
Port Stanley. He will also sign LA6IKA/CX from Uruguay in December and
ZP/LA6IKA from Paraguay during December/January (he is still waiting
for the licence here). Svein works "holiday style" mostly in CW and
some PSK31 with an IC-703 and homebrew verticals.
QSLs via homecall, bureau, direct, LoTW or eQSL.
SILENT KEY: Mike,UA0MF, died after a heart attack on Sep 2. Mike was the
first Russian OM who reached the "Top of the Honor Roll".
