VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN
EATON RAPIDS, MICHIGAN

The Community Center was the buzz of all activities at the Home.  There was large auditorium that provided room for dances, stage shows, movies, basketball, athletic equipment, craft shops and other recreational facilities.  The Cootie Library was also located here.  On top of the Community Center was where the Ham Radio Antenna was located though not pictured here.  The Club Station was located in the basement.  The call the club station, best to my memory, was WB8AWT.

Though not pictured there were also at the home a Dairy-Poultry Farm complete with a herd of 66 Holstein milkers, an Apple Orchard, Laundry and Maintenance facilities, counseling, and near by Lake Romanis which providing a marvelous all season recreation area.  The lake covered nearly four acres and had excellent fishing.

Again, I wish to thank all the V.F.W. Posts, the Ladies Auxiliary, the Cooties, and other parties involved for making it possible for me to grow up in a family environment.
