VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN
EATON RAPIDS, MICHIGAN

Originally constructed in 1931 and updated in 1949, the Hospital did only minor and emergency surgery.  Completely equipped, at the time it had 22 beds and four nurses on call.  Four doctors from the nearby Eaton Rapids furnished medical attention for the youngsters.  Whenever I had a cold or flu, I had to go to the Hospital to stay so that I would not "share" my sickness with the other kids.  I am not sure if the Hospital is open at this time, but this is the way it was when I was there in the 50's and 60's.  Thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary for their hard work that made this possible.
