BMARC INVOLVEMENT
that is, the Battleship Missouri Amateur Radio Club
Station Call: KH6BB

I am proud to be involved in volunteer work on the USS Missouri, the "Mighty Mo", the 58,000 ton dreadnought of World War II fame. Currently berthed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, she is located just a few hundred yards from the USS Arizona Memorial. Such a fitting arrangement, the beginning and ending icons of that conflict.

Our association with the BMARC involves an ongoing restoration of the radio central spaces. Operation of a ham radio station onboard enables others worldwide to make contact and touch this piece of history.

What is the Museum Ship's Weekend you ask?
It's an event that honors the service of both military and merchant vessels that have been preserved as Museum Ships around the world. Amateur radio clubs aboard these ships participate in this event held every year in mid July except in 2006 which was moved up to early June. Ham stations world-wide are presented an opportunity to work many of these museum ships during this weekend. Typically about 80 ships world-wide participate in this event. BMARC has participated each year since 2001. My first involvement was in 2002.
