INTERNET - HAM RADIO LINK SYSTEM

GOOD Operating PRACTICE

When a link has been established, it is a good practice to monitor the frequency if there are any on going conversation before using your Space Bar and/or Enter Key  to send voice over the internet via the ILINK Software.

If the link frequency is clear, the station who made the link should give his/her callsign plus the word (VIA THE INTERNET and/or any word to this effect) this way all the stations monitoring the frequency would right away know that a link is in progress and needs to give at least 3 to 5 seconds gap on the qso.

When a link is in progress and no one is available to answer the call, the stations making the call should make sure that a conversation with another local station should have 3 to 5 seconds gap in order for the remote stations to break their qso and join the conversation.

It is also important that an exchange of audio quality report be done as soon as possible,  in order for station to change settings on the PC audio mixer (if one is present on the controls) (Harp System can send DTMF tones to change the setting)  and/or be able to talk louder or softer for the qso to work on each others favor. Remote stations are reminded to make sure the ILINK software is on a RX mode before leaving the PC station to make sure that the Ilinked Repeater Station is not left on a TX mode.
