Mars/Cap mod for Kenwood TM-V7A

Remove the top and bottom covers and the detachable
face holder. Look at the pc board that is vertical behind
the front of the radio. There will be 2 small chip resistors
on the left side of the board. Carefully remove the one
with the number 0 . It will be the one closest to the left
near the grounding spring. You will probably have to scrape it off
with a pair of needle nose pliers. After you remove it
the TX should be VHF TX 136.995 - 173.995. RX should
be 118-174. UHF TX should be 410-469.995 RX should be
300-470.

Note: You can also use a low wattage soldering iron and remove
the surface mount 0k resistor carefully. I took a piece of tape and
taped it into the inside of the v7a case... that way if I have
to send it in for warranty work I just will solder it back in!

Microphone Mod for the V7A

I came across this MF mod that corrects the problem of the microphone
picking up tones from other sources (radios, high pitch sounds, etc) and
change modes on the radio (when in MF control mode). Also when in
Crossband Repeat and someone was talking in the background while someone
was using the v7a for crossband repeat any sounds made in the room with
the V7A will be picked up. This mod will keep ya from ripping your radio
out of your car and tossing it out of the car at 55 mph because it keeps
going to spectrum scan automatically, etc.

Heres the Graphic from the kenwood page describing the mod.

Pre-modified state of my Microphone

Post-Modification of my Microphone

I would order the digital transistor from the kenwood recomended site.
