USAFSS PAGE

Are you a former member of the USAFSS? Did you know that there AIN'T no Air Force Security Service anymore? It's now called the Air Intelligence Agency or something like that. Makes you wonder who was finally smart enough to put the word "intelligence" in.

Anyway, I am looking for former members, in particular those who went to Tech School at March AFB, California, or served either at Misawa, Japan or San Vito, Italy.

It is my intention to compile a list on this page of former SS members, listing their specialty, stations where they served, and the years involved

For example, after basic training I went to 202 Tech School at March AFB, California and from there to Misawa, Japan, 6989 R.S.M., two years there from 1959 - 1961, then directly to San Vito, Italy, 6917TH RGM. At that time, San Vito was an 18 month tour. We were the first ones on this base after it opened. I left there in 1962, back to McGuire AFB in New Jersey for discharge.

....And whatever happened to the Rolling Rebels Bowling Team from Misawa?? Well, Don Brown is now a State Trooper somewhere in Virginia, Ron Bolen has retired and is somewhere in the West Virginia mountains, Ron Barnett is supposed to be somewhere in Washington, D.C. area, and Jim Boone is writing this web page. ED COOK, where are you????

To my good friend retired SMSGT FRANK D. DOVER and his wonderful wife PEGGY. Thank you very much for the kindness you extended to me many years ago and for a friendship that has lasted throughout the years....we are probably the only ones left who know what a "WODIE" and a "GOODIWA" is!!

And to Colonel Ron Bartlett, deceased: You were one hell of an officer!, thanks for the hot biscuits and ribbon cane syrup.
