Well, it might be of use to put the drift in context first. The
numbers don't appear to be quite so awful that way. 15 MHz for 20-30
degrees C change is on the order of what many microwave oscillators do.
YIG tuned oscillators are often in this vicinity. Also, 15 MHz drift at
10500 MHz is comparable to 6 KHz drift at 4 MHz. Would your
non-temperature compensated VFO design for a 75 meter rig be all that
much more stable if you put it into the cooler for the same length of
time? Perhaps a bit but probably not a lot.

Still, for medium to narrowband use, 15 MHz is a lot. Why don't you
consider phaselocking the Solfan if you want it not to drift? I show
all the necessary circuits to make a 10 GHz SSB station in Feb/Jun/Oct
1988 Ham Radio Magazine. The microwave oscillator used is none other
than a phaselocked Solfan source with bias push tuning. Also shown is
the resultant phase noise. It's not as good as the best one can do but
it's very acceptable even for very narrowband work; SSB and CW. This is
the same hardware architecture I used when we originally pushed the long
standing 200+ mile 10 GHz over-land record out to 400+ miles.

You would need a specific part number or system number to place an order. I asked for a catalog to do this, and the (very nice) receptionist took my info and said I would recieve one shortly. Hopes this helps others out, and thanks for the tip Glenn!
