Welcome to RadioCommander 2052
NOW WITH AUTO MODE FOR MULTITRUNKING.
======================================================================================

Introduction:
Computer Controled Scanning is a wonderful thing. No more spending hours punching in
Frequencies, and ID's into a Scanner with hundreds of memories. Then keeping note
sheets with descriptions for each channel. The entire memory of the Radio is copied to a
Computer Database, and annotated, for control, and updating the Radio memory
RadioCommander for Windows is such a Program. It should save time, and keep the user
informed of the status of the current frequency, or Trunk ID, and the state of the Radio.
Please read Your Owners Manual, and become familiar with all aspects of Your Radio
before using the Radio or this Software. It will make Your scanning experiences more
productive, and enjoyable.

Thanks for trying RadioCommander2052 for Windows, and I hope You enjoy it.

About RadioCommander and the Author
Hi. My name is R. Frank Serio KD5LMY. I am a licsensed Radio Amatuer and an avid scanner
listener. I currently work as a design draftsman for a small enginnering firm in Houston,
Texas. I am happily married to a wonderful woman (Debra), and have children, and step
children. The whole idea behind RadioCommander for Windows, was the fact that software for the
Pro-2052 was either weak or overpriced. I wrote this software to control My Pro-2052, and
decided to sell copies of it at a cheap price. Radio Software should be cheap, so You can
spend all Your hard earned bucks buying cool hardware. :-) But it also should be simple, and
have enough bells, and whistles to enhance the Radio. I have tried to keep this software
simple, but it still took alot of effort to put it together. I hope You enjoy the software as much as
I enjoyed coding it, and operating My Radio with it. I would also like to thank My lovely and
understanding Wife who puts up with all My Geek stuff.

REGISTERING RADIOCOMMANDER 2052
I am a hobbiest that enjoys Radio Scanning and DX'ing, not to mention talking to
other Ham's. I wrote this software for My taste, and thought other enthusiast
might enjoy it. I am not a software company, but I believe People should be
able to try a full functional copy before they purchase it. It is frustrating to
purchase software and be dissapointed when it arrives. This software is kept
simple and is priced accordingly. I know that most Radio Hobbiest, and Ham's
are good People so this done by the honor system. If You think You would use the
software please register it. The price is $14.95 USD. Please register at My
website www.qsl.net/kd5lmy click on the software link and the PayPal link is
there. Thank You so much.

Note:
If You use this Software please register it. I have spent many hours writing the
code, and the price is cheap compared to other software.

Radio Shack Pro-2052
Serial Cable - 9 pin

Pentium 100 or better
32 Megs Ram
800x600 SVGA or better monitor

Read the owners manual and become familiar with the Radio.

=========================================================================

Getting Started
Before starting RadioCommander be sure Your Radio is set to Remote Mode, by holding down the
Hold Button for several seconds. The Radio will beep, and SFT will blink, at the right of the
display. Make sure the serial cable is connected well at both ends.

When You start RadioCommander for the first time, You will be presented with the RadioCommander
interface, and a blank frequency grid. The first step You should take is making sure the Radio
is connected properly to the Computer. You should read, and familiarize Yourself with the
manual. Radio commander initially opens com port 1, and 9600 bps the first time You start it.
You can go to the setup panel, and change these values to reflect Your setup. ( Available
values are 9600 - 19200 bps, and COM1 - COM2) After the Radio and Software are running
properly, You can click the DOWNLOAD button next to the Virtual Radio panel. The entire 1000
channel memory of Your Radio will download to the Frequency Grid. The download takes
about 4 mins. Next click on SAVE FILE in the Frequencies Panel. From there You can edit
Frequencies, Alpha Tags, etc with the built in editor. You can click on a channel in the
data grid and that record will pop up in the editor fields, or type a channel no. in the box
next to the GOTO button and clic GOTO, or click on the slider bar next to the editor fields.

Overview
RadioCommander always starts in SCAN mode.

The Program is pretty much self explanatory. At the top of the interface is the Virtual Radio
Panel. It looks and operates just like the Pro-2052 itself. Click any button, just as You would
the Radio itself. The only exception is the search button which is disabled, because there are
seperate search functions to choose from. This Help File is kept short and simple to give You
the basics of the Software, the rest is easy to figure out. Below are explanations of the various
features.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Panel
TUNE FREQUENCY - Type any valid frequency in the provided field and click button to tune.
(note: a valid frequency is ie: 460.1500 not 460.15 the frequency must have 4 digits
after the decimal.)
GOTO CHANNEL - Type a channel no. from 1-1000 in the provided field and click button.
AUTO MODE - Switches Modes approx. every minute between Conventional and Trunking
Modes for simulated MultiTrunking.
*NOTE* If You click any Search Buttons, Hold, Manual, or Limit Auto Mode is disabled.
UPLOAD FREQUENCIES - Uploads all current frequencies w/trunking status to the radio.
(note: goto the setup panel and set the banks to their proper trunking status
ie: 0-conventional, 2-e2800 etc. or the upload will not set the trunking types.)
DOWNLOAD FREQUENCIES - Downloads all frequencies w/trunking status to the software.
TURN ON ALL BANKS - Turns on all banks 1 - 20.
UNLOCK ALL CHANNELS - Unlocks all current locked out channels.

The Virtual Radio LCD displays channel, frequency, Alpha Tag, and Bank Name.
(The Alpha, and Bank Data cannot be uploaded, or downloaded to or from the Radio itself)

The Staus Bar at the bottom shows the Time, Date, Delay Status, and Radio Status
(Scanning, Hold, etc....)

There are four tabs to choose from on the bottom panel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frequencies - Displays frequency data, and allows editing of frequency, and Alpha data.
After You are done editing frequencies, and Alpha Tags click the save button to save the data
to disk.

Trunk ID's - Displays Trunk ID data, from the database You create. You may enter and edit
data for TrunkID, and Alpha Tags. Click update after editing a record to update it.
After You are done editing data click the save button to save the data to disk.
The Trunk ID Serach Function Box is also located on the right side of the panel.

Search - You can do either a service or manual search. The Band search has over 20
preselected bands to pick from the dropdown box. Click the search button below the
dropdown box after You have selected a service. You can also do a manual search by typing
the lower limit frequency, and upper limit frequency in the appropiate boxes and click the
search button below the frequency fields.
Remeber to keep Your searches limited to small portions of the band You are interested in,
such as 150.0000 mhz. to 152.0000 mhz., and not 150.0000 mhz to 450.0000 mhz. The Radio
will probably stick on birdies, and will jump bands, due to the gaps in coverage.
All frequencies the Radio stops on will be listed in the frequencies list box, along with the
number of hits for each frequency.
While set to trunk mode click the search button and all ID's found will be logged
in the ID List Box. You can hold on an ID, and continue. The ID List can be cleared
at any time or saved to disk.
Known ID's will be marked as FOUND. This is handy for finding new ID's.

Setup - This panel is for setting up radio banks, IO communications, and a few other options.
There is a data grid with controls to set up the radio bank names, and trunking types.

ATTENTION
REMEMBER YOU MUST ASSIGN A BANK TYPE FOR EACH BANK, OR THE SOFTWARE WILL
NOT KNOW HOW TO PROGRAM THE RADIO FOR TRUNKING FREQUENCIES.

ie: 0 - CONV 1- E1-800 2 - E2-800 3 - E2-400 4 - E2-800 5 - E2-800 6 - EDACS
===================================================================================
