MAY 20, 2003 BARC GENERAL MEETING (by John KA5COA)

The business meeting of the Brazosport Amateur Radio Club took place at the Lake Jackson Library meeting room on May 20, 2003. There were 8 members present.

The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were read and accepted.

Old Business:

1. Angleton has approved the Field Day site. The letter from the City of Angleton was received by KC5TAR approving the use of the vacant lot next to the Angleton Fire Dept.

2. The No Code Tech Class has been scheduled to start on the first week of October, The class will consist of 7 sessions and an exam. The location is the Angleton Fire Dept. training room.

New Business:

1. The program "The Perfect Storm" will be presented at the Lake Jackson Civic Center on June 5. BARC will have a table for Amateur radio demonstration.

BARC BOARD MINUTES

No BARC Board meeting took place due to the potential work stoppage at the Dow plant.

BARC RADIO NET

The BARC Net is run every Thursday evening at 8:30 PM local time. It is set up for communications, Club bulletins, net traffic, Emergency Management Notices, and to test equipment.

The business meeting of the Brazosport Amateur Radio Club took place at the County Commisioners meeting room on April 15, 2003. There were 8 members present.

The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were read and accepted.

Old Business:

1. Angleton has approved the Field Day site.

Repeater Report:

1. Erick, KA5MWY, said that the repeater has an output of 11 watts and that there may be an antenna problem.

Program: Skywarn 2003 training by Matt Moreland of the NWS.

BARC BOARD MINUTES

The BARC Board meeting took place at the County Airport on April 5, 2003. Attendees were: KC5TAR, KM5J, KA5VZM, WB8PHO and KA5COA.

Activities discussed were:

1. The no code tech class will be held in the Angleton Fire Station. There may be a possible conflict if there is a work stoppage at Dow. We might need to reschedule this class to October to avoid summer vacations.

2. Field Day is set up. We are awaiting Angleton FD approval.

3. The April meeting is Skywarn training in Angleton. We should contact The Facts for public information.

4. WD5AAH wants to remove former Club equipment from his yard or junk it after 30 days.

5. Erick, KA5WMY has installed the GE repeater and tuned the duplexers. We will monitor performance of the machine for any other problems.

The business meeting of the Brazosport Amateur Radio Club took place at the Angleton Fire Department on February 18, 2003. There were 14 members present. The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were read and accepted.

Program: Rich Timann, the Marine Ag Agent for Brazoria County, presented a program on the rainfall/flood gauge automatic reporting system.


JANUARY 21, 2003 BARC GENERAL MEETING (de Mike KD5CMN)

The business meeting of the Brazosport Amateur Radio Club took place at the Lake Jackson Library. The meeting started at 7:30 PM and concluded at 8:45 PM. Fourteen members were attended. The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were read and accepted.

Miscellaneous Business:

Main Program:

The main program was by club member Mike Mullins. He described a building project which measures current, voltage, and power, and displays it on an LCD. The device is intended to measure power consumption of radios and other electronic equipment. There is a link on the main page which shows a picture of the working device (yes, it works!).


OCTOBER 15, 2002 BARC GENERAL MEETING (de John KA5COA)

The business meeting of the Brazosport Amateur Radio Club took place at the Lake Jackson Library on October 15, 2002.. The meeting started at 7:35 PM and concluded at 8:45 PM. Twelve members were present and one guest was present. The Secretary's and Treasurer's reports were read and accepted.

Main Program:

The program was by Rick Perry, Brazoria County EM. The question was what would the county expect from BARC or amateur radio during a storm up to a catagoty 1. The on scene experience of the county judge during the last two storms has pointed out the need for emergency communications and accurate flow of information from around the county to the EOC during severe weather.
