Frequency Modulation
Communications
Three common methods (called "modulation") of voice communication
are used. A.M. (Amplitude Modulation), S.S.B. (Single Side Band), and F.M.
(Frequency Modulation).
Commonly used on V.H.F. and above by Amateur Radio Operators and
commercial broadcasters. Changes the FREQUENCY (tuning) according to how
load the voice is. Requires the most space of all
the modulation methods. Sound quality can be very good. Is technically more
difficult to receive that the other two methods, but is easier to
transmit.
