Well, let me start off my thanking all those that voted for me as the club president. I will try to do as good as a job as those that have served as past presidents. I would like to thank our ARES group for assisting with the March Of Dimes, Best Of Badin, Message Handling at the Albemarle Mall as well as those that work the Christmas Parade in Albemarle. You help will continue to be needed for our events. I guess that the next few sentences should be classified as "I would". I would like to see more participation during our weekly club nets. I know that club participation has dropped of during the summer months and hope with winter on the way the number of check-ins will increase again. I would like to see more participation during our monthly meetings in Albemarle. I would like to continue the participation on scheduling programs for our monthly meetings. I know that we have members that carriers the programs for our club and I'm certain they could use your involvement in doing or recommending presentations. If you have ideas on presentations for our meetings do not hesitate to call me (888-6993). All ideas and your participation are welcomed. Thanks again for your support.

Special thanks to Lee (W4ALZ) for providing his efforts in recording the Newsletters to audio tapes. The tapes are sent to our sightless members in our club. Lee accepted this task many months ago and I'm sure his efforts are appreciated.

APRS - We have changed the TNC at the courthouse. Our packet usage has dwindled down over the last twelve . Carl (W4EAT) came up with the idea of using APRS instead of packet at the courthouse. We all met at the courthouse on Friday September 21st for the conversion. It looks like it went well. The frequency is simplex 144.390, if you have a TNC you may want to give it a try. It appears that we have lots of APRS usage on this frequency. Those that attended this event were: KD4OZI - KF4CWZ - KF4HOP - KF4ZZF - N4JAT - W4EAT

Best Of Badin

We had a good time at this event. Lots of thanks Bill (KE4KQQ) and Dan (WB4RGS) for hosting this event. I don't have the number of contacts made. Bill has these and I was not able to catch up with him. I remember a Cuba contact that I thought it was neat. I know that Bill had several pile ups after I left at 2:00 p.m.. Carl, (W4EAT) set up and demonstrated APRS those that were interested. Hopefully we will see more usage on APRS with our set up at the courthouse. The big change that we saw this year was they had canceled the Dam tours, not sure why. May have been a result of the terrorist attacks in New York and at the Pentagon. The results was that we did not see very many of the public. Last year they load the bus for the tour near where we were set up, as a result we had lots of folks that stopped in at our ham station. The food there was good

Mark (KF4ZZF) found the funnel cakes and the rest of us found the hot sausage, peppers, onions that went with these fixings. I would still like to see more attendance next year. As John (KF4CWZ) would say "a good time was had by all" and as I would say that all folks.
