 Monthly Report May "2005"

Note: Some of you have adjusted the number of members in your ARES group.  I do not
have a problem with your adjustment if they are non-active members or members that
you can not count on adding to or helping your group.  Keep in mind that you may have folks that are not able to travel but our available from their homes, that could be a plus.

12.          UPCOMING EVENTS: FIELD DAY 2005

Mecklenburg County
10. Comments: Meck ARES call tree notification lists have been updated  and will be exercised during June.
The Monday night edition of M2MEN (9:00 PM 146.94) has included ARES Night with a short discussion of ARES related subjects.  The first month has been well accepted, therefore needs more discussion topics prepared

Plans for three different Field Day Operations in Meck county have reached the detailed planning stage, including two different flavors of wireless LAN logging and station coordination.

The National MS Society 50 mile Challenge Walk was accomplished with a joint effort of Cabarrus and Meck Hams.
The three day event used Locust 147.39, Concord 146.655, and tactical 446.100.  Typical superb cooperation between all Hams again impressed the MS Society and probably encouraged a few new and prospective Hams.

Stanly County

COMMENTS: Other than our regular monthly meeting, there was very little activity for April. Our May meeting on Thursday 6 May continued our planning for Field Day. We surveyed and queried several sites with little or no response to our request for use. We have decided to have Field Day at the Life Saving Crew Hall parking lot at 322 N Academy Street, Lincolnton, NC. We do not plan to have a large activity for this year. We had VE testing on Saturday 14 May with (3) new Tech Licenses, (1) General and (1) Extra that did not pass. We have purchased a small mobile home trailer and a generator that we plan to remodel for our mobile communications van. This will be another project along with the Hospital, which is on hold waiting for a roll of RG-213.
