[email protected]
1. Let me know a yes or no if your county ARES plan to participate.
2. Let me know what location you plan on using EOC, park or other?
3. We need to sent at least 10 messages per county to test the system
under abnormal use.
Area - 12,     I will keep you informed as we progress toward the April 23rd date.
  --------------------------------------------------------------------

23 or April 2005 - 9AM to 12 Noon..
April 23, 2005

Location Stanly County: Chuck Morehead Park

Mini Field Day - the purpose of the Mini Field Day is preparation for our Field Day in June.

Last years several of the counties in AREA-12 participated and many requested us to do the Mini Field day again.  Last years mini field days looks like that it was huge benefit and training exercise for Field Day operators as well as an ARES readiness event.

Our Stanly County goal is to establish communications with all six county's by means of:
1. HF
2. 2 meters
3, Packet

Stanly County ARES or Club members:   please e-mail Med or myself if
you plan to attend.  We will need help in set up of antenna and equipment.
As always we will need several packet operator.  At the weekly meeting Med
will have a list of equipment that will be on hand.  Bill (K4VET) this may require
your (HF) antenna.  One of the areas that we want to explorer is packet and sending
at least 8 to 10 messages.  Med and myself would like to see a huge turn out for this
event.  Ed (W4KMA) hopefully will attend and give direction if needed on antennas
and setup but we need to make sure that members know how to correct install antennas in an emergency situation.

Note: Some of you have adjusted the number of members in your ARES group.  I do not
have a problem with your adjustment if they are non-active members or members that
you can not count on adding to or helping your group.  Keep in mind that you may have folks that are not able to travel but our available from their homes, that could be a plus.

COMMENTS: Thursday 3 March – Monthly meeting - continued planning with scheduled events and Field Day location. March generally speaking was a quiet month and we had very little activity. Unless we can spark some interest and participation, we do not plan to participate in the mini Field Day next month. These events create a lot of work for me and the same three other members who will be the only participants.
