 Monthly Report June "2005"

Note: Some of you have adjusted the number of members in your ARES group.  I do not
have a problem with your adjustment if they are non-active members or members that
you can not count on adding to or helping your group.  Keep in mind that you may have folks that are not able to travel but our available from their homes, that could be a plus.

11 – COMMENTS:
            Great turnout for
Field Day 2005.  We had great weather, lots of good and fun was had by all.   We are still compiling the numbers but it looks like around 1900 points.
We have received a new grant from the Glenn Foundation in the amount of $1000.00.  This will go a    long way in helping us furnish the new trailer that the county is buying for us.
12 – UPCOMING EVENTS:
August, 12, 2005

United Way Day of Caring will be Friday August, 12, 2005.  We will be handling their    communications.  If anyone is interested in helping please contact Mike Huffstetler at:      [email protected]

 September 13, 2005

We will be holding a code class starting September 13, 2005.  This will be an 8 week class held at the new Gaston County Police Dept. on Tuesdays starting at 7PM.  The class is free and the students will        not need any supplies.  For more information please contact Joe Hullender at:       [email protected]

Lincoln County
11.          COMMENTS: Field Day 2005 was a complete success for our Group. We did not put a lot of emphasis on contacts and points. Our goal was to train our new operators for emergency field operations. Our set up and tear down was smooth and everyone handled their assignments without incident. Every member and most of the guests were able to learn and operate the equipment. Our Group operated 2A and by the end of the period, some of our new operators became very proficient. We prepared and sent a few NTS messages. Our new operators received and sent all of our NTS message traffic. I was personally pleased with our accomplishments for this event. Thanks to our DEC for visiting our Field Day site.

Executive director, Jean Hendley (Stanly County Chapter).  Was some
what disappointed on the youth element achieved had 3 young people but none of them made radio
