Note: Some of you have adjusted the number of members in your ARES group.  I do not
have a problem with your adjustment if they are non-active members or members that
you can not count on adding to or helping your group.  Keep in mind that you may have folks that are not able to travel but our available from their homes, that could be a plus.

            Test Session:
            April 5, 2005 at the Gaston County EOC 7:00pm
            Open to the public. All license exams will be available
            Fee: $14    Bring a copy of your license and any CSCE

            $22 per person         Limited to 20 people
            This class includes both Adult CPR and First Aid
            Contact the American Red Cross to sign up for the class.

Lincoln

1.          COMMENTS: Thursday 3 February – Monthly meeting - continued yearly planning with scheduled events and Field Day location. Our VE test session on 19 February was successful at the new location.  We hope to have the Hospital antennas assembled before the weather breaks so that we can install them.

Mecklenburg

 10 - Comments: It was great to see all who attended the Area 12 meeting at Mecklenburg EOC this month.  Also thanks to our “digital gurus” Steve KE4IYH  and Lee KD4GCF for their       preparation and presentation of Packet radio in an ARES application.   Antenna system using
a roof top tower was completed this month at the new Red Cross Disaster Operation Center
including 2 Meters, 70 cm, and 47.42 Mhz.

Stanly

10. Special Events:   40 Fun Run in Uwharrie forest February 5th.  All went well 250 entrees on the 40 mile and 20 mile run.  We Stanly County provided a total of 8 people at the 20 mille station and the 14/26 mile station.  Was good experience but at time was very hectic to keep up.
11. Comments:  Attended the Area-12 quarterly meeting held at the Mecklenburg EOC center.
12. Up Coming Events:  Proposed installation of HF antenna on Stanly Co. Court House for ARES EC HF/VHF Station.

Union

11 -  COMMENTS: THIS MONTH:. We lost two members this month who are employed at JAARS and have been assigned to Chad in Africa.  The NC4UC repeaters are still not linked due to system problems.
12 –  UPCOMING EVENTS:  MS Walk will be held on April 9th and Union County ARES will provide communications/safety coverage.
