Back to October results…   Our QTC Passed percentage was very high until the 29th when we had 8 pieces of traffic offered, but were only able to pass 1.  This again, appears to have been  Telnet traffic!   The QNI number improved slightly during October.  But frankly, the weekends are killing us!  Honors this month for the busiest net goes to W4EAT.  On the 30 he had a 22 minute net that passed 6 of 8 pieces offered.  IK4HGG had the longest net on the 24th when we went 5 for 5 in 27 minutes.

Sorry folks for getting up on the soap box earlier.  The hard work that you put in on the North Carolina Morning Net is greatly appreciated.  Thank you all for all that you do!  73

North Carolina Morning Net

Folks…  We had a very nice turn out for the District Meeting this past Saturday.  Attending were:
ASEC Paul Robinette KD4OZI from Cabarrus County, Joe W1FAI & Dorney KG4YNM of Catawba County,
Randy KI4JXF from Cleveland County, Barney KG4GMI & Dennis KG4ZJF of Gaston County, Cliff WD4PIC
& James KF4URY from Lincoln County, John WB2NHQ & Brian KF4VOO & Randy KE4JXF of Mecklenburg County,
Micah W4MLE from Union County, and myself.

We discussed the AREA 13 HF net.  It was the consensus of those in attendance that if we are going to
have an AREA 13 HF net, that it be held EVERY Monday evening beginning October 29th.  As before, the
net will meet at 7:00 PM on 3.890 MHZ.  Dorney KG4YNM and John WB2NHQ will both be asking for check
ins to insure that we have the entire district covered.  We will continue to review the net frequency
to see if another frequency might be better.  Please inform your members who have HF privileges and urge
them to check in.

As part of their reports, the EC’s reported on how the Field Day efforts in their counties went and also
what their plans were for the upcoming Simulated Emergency Test which will be conducted this coming
Saturday Randy Ross KI4ZJI briefed the group on the formation of the Cleveland County Amateur Radio Service.
They have had an initial meeting and will also be meeting with some of the officers of the Shelby club this
Thursday to explain what it is that they would like to do as a club.  They plan to have their “charter”
meeting on the 19th of November.

We discussed the idea of having an AREA 13 web site.  Barney KG4GMI is going to see if one of his members
might be interested in heading up the project.

Joe W1FAI was in charge of the program and he briefed the group on some of the courses that are available
through the ARRL and FEMA.  Thanks Joe for sharing the information with us.

It was decided that a tentative date for the next meeting is January 26th.  If there are no conflicts,
it will be hosted by Mecklenburg ARES.  Please keep that date open.

Thank you all for all that you do!  Your participation in ARES is an asset to your counties and communities!
