May 2012 was a good month for Rowan ARES. We had high numbers for NET participation and held one net training session. I got our website hosting issue fixed and have revamped the ARES website. The address remains the same at www.rowancares.org The cost for the website is being paid by myself (N4JMG), at this time. I hope to find some funding assistance soon. Planning has started for ARRL Field Day 2012 and we are excited for it. I made an additional request for my EC packet from the ARRL. This is my fourth request via phone. I will not ask for these supplies again. My club members will as a result have no member cards etc.

In the Month of May we held 12 nets with a total of 5 hrs and 15 minutes of net time. We had 336 checkins for the month of May.

On May 19th we helped with the Over the Mountain triathlon. This was our 5th year helping with this event.Our relationship with our served agency (City of KM) is strong. They truly appreciate the time and work that each of you put into this event. Each year they have treated our Amateur radio volunteers to a spaghetti supper along with all the athletes. Our newest repeater site also sits within the city limits of Kings Mountain. We used both 146.88 and the D-Star 145.080 repeaters this year, both repeaters have awesome signals from the course. We had over 30+ volunteers help with this event. This public service event is organized by SARC and ARES of Cleveland County but lots of Gaston County ARES members help! It is an awesome way to demonstrate cross county mutual aid.

Our Field Day will be at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Shelby.
