The Shack
Here's the new picture as of November, 2001. There have been a few
changes since the last shot. I've built an
Elecraft K2 (which is my favorite QRP rig) and aquired some Ten-Tec
gear.
The antenna farm is the same 20m dipole in the attic and long wire.
The old shack...
Here I am at my station. At the bottom is an Argonaut 509,
a MFJ antenna analyzer, CMOS II keyer and bencher paddles, and a
couple of 12v batteries. On the first shelf is a Sangean shortwave
broadcast receiver, Radio Shack DSP filter, Wilderness Sierra, and
an Alinco DX-70. An array of antenna tuners, power/SWR meters, and
switches are above with the 2m transceiver and TNC.
My antenna farm consists of a 20m dipole in the attic that I use
for the upper bands and a longish wire out the 2nd story window into
a tree across the back yard. Sometimes I throw out the SLV/MMA vertical
in the back yard for 30/40m.
I am a fan of operating QRP (low power) CW. The Sierra puts out about
5 watts on 80m through 15m. That is currently my favorite CW rig. I've
adjusted the DX-70 for 5 watts on the low power
setting and 15 watts as the high power setting. The Argonaut is putting
out a couple of watts but needs work with the tuning dial.
