first day - 5/25/1999 - left at 9:30 a.m.

Today I left home. I felt like I was in a limo. We travled on route 27 to Tallahassee. We saw a helicopter going in circles and going down in between the trees. I think it was looking at the power lines. Welcome to Leon County. That is Tallahasse. I entered Tallahasse city limits. Then we are very close to the capital building. We ate at McDonald's. Then we go in the Capitol building and go on a tour. We saw the Heridge Chapel, Senate, House of Rep., and observation deck on the 22nd floor. We visited the Museum of Florida History. My favorite exbit at the Museum of Florida History was the Tin Can Camper. It was a motorhome built on a Ford Motel "T". It had a wind catcher and no wind sheild. The wind catcher was the cab (the wind catcher was over the engine). Then we visited the Old Capitol. It was remodeled to look like 1902 arrangment. We Change to Central time. Go back a hour. We camped at Dove Rest in Marianna. We stopped there for 110V for air (A/C). It also had cable connections and water.

We went through George Wallace Tunnel. We went to Fort Cond. We saw gas street lights. "Mississippi Welcomes You," said the sign. That means we are in Mississippi. We went over a bridge. We crossed the state border into Louisiana. Then we stopped at the Louisiana Welcome Center. We crossed the Mississippi River. The Mississippi River is huge! We camped at Wal-Mart.
