ex-KC8CON
I am an Amateur Radio Operator (also known as Ham Operator) and a Military Affiliated Radio Service (MARS) Operator. Licensed as an Amateur Extra, I operate on all bands and various modes. I am a member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) and WV Army Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS). I am also a member of the Plateau Amateur Radio Association, Inc. and HamJones DX Association.
I have been a licensed Amateur Radio Operator since February of 1996 with the callsign of KC8CON originally assigned to my license. In December of 2003, I decided that it was time for a callsign that would be easier to use when working DX stations. I researched the Vanity HQ website and looked at several callsigns that were available. They have an extensive list of callsigns on their website. I finally went online to the FCC Universal License Service (ULS) and applied for the vanity callsign of WD8WV (Whiskey Delta 8 Whiskey Victor). WD8WV was issued to me on January 9, 2004, by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
I have several links listed below to various organizations, clubs and websites of interests. For information about the WV Section click on WV Traffic Nets. You will find the leadership information along with net information. There is also a WV Fone Roster link on the WV Traffic Nets page. There is a link to how I got into this hobby, plus a link to my other hobbies that I like to do. I hope you enjoy my website.

Here are some of my FAVORITE Rigs
that I have now:
This is my primary rig. A Yaesu FT-840 with the 10 Meter FM board installed. This is a great rig for the price. I would recommend this rig to anyone starting out on HF.
Here is another of my rigs. This is a Heath SB-1400 that I use for Field Day, mainly for PSK31. This rig is back from RTO Electronics where it just went through a complete RE-CONDITIONING. If you have a Heathkit radio check out RTO's Website. Thanks Ron for such good work!
Here
is another of my rigs that I just received on 08/01/03. This is an ICOM
IC-706 (the orignial). A great rig for operating mobile, in the field or
as a base station. I have installed this rig in my 1984 Chevy S-10 4x4,
and the antenna is a 40 Meter Hamstick.
Modes
Operated: SSB, Packet, APRS, CW, PSK31, RTTY,
Hellshrieber, MFSK 16 and Slowscan Bands
Operated: 160 through 10 Meters HF, 6 Meters FM
and SSB, 2 Meters All Mode
Other hobbies that I am into are 1) Hunting, 2) Fishing, 3) Camping, and 4) Reloading.
