The Palm VII made by 3com will become publicly available in the few months.
It is currently a fully functional unit that is working on an NPCS system run
by AT&T. Currently 3Com is requiring you to activate service on the Palm VII
through them and assigning you a [email protected] address. When AirTouch
activates it's NPCS system I am hoping we can get units like this on our system.
With the Palm VII you can make requests to mapquest.com and get maps and directions.
You can also query an on-line yellow pages for all of the phone number and address
of places you go. Of course you can also send and receive email on the unit as
well. The only draw back I can see it the way they bill for the service. They
are charging on how much data is transferred per month. So if you get a lot of
email, look out....
