1999 ARRL Field Day
Heart O' Texas
Amateur Radio Club
June 23-24, 1999
Field Day is an annual operating event for US and Canadian hams that tests our emergency preparedness and operating prowess. It is also a time for fun and fellowship while getting away from it all! The Heart O' Texas Amateur Radio Club has partipated in many Field Day competitions through the years and has recently called Hewitt City Park (Hewitt, TX) home.
We test the capabilities of our emergency trailer that is stocked with:
We also setup a secondary HF station under the park pavillion and this year the transciever was connected to an 80m rhombic directed to the northeast.
Each year we try to incorporate one or more "exotic" modes of operation. This year PSK31 was selected and we made quite a few contacts showing off this new mode of communicaton. We also worked with the Waco Area Televison Society (WATS) to launch a kite with an amateur radio television attached. This "bird" produced some very wild real-time video due to the high winds.
