My Past-To-Present World Of Public Safety

My history of public safety began when I got my amateur radio license back in August '95.  I wanted to get involved in everything that had some excitement in it, and one of those things was the American Red Cross.  I spent a few years helping out with the Red Cross and still currently hold a membership to the disaster team at my local chapter.  My first job with the disaster team was the famous Abilene peanut fire on the north side of town.  The fire lasted for a few days and had a lot of excitement with it.  I also attended as many of the disaster classes as possible, I have been Mass Care Chairman and Disaster Committee Chairman for the team.  Not long ago, I was forced to cut back on some of my activities with the disaster team because of employment and personal reasons.  I am still an active disaster team member and First Aid/CPR Instructor.  Another exciting club I am thrilled to be with is the local Abilene, and Taylor County A.R.E.S. and Skywarn Team.  I have been with this group of enthusiasts for a little over 5 years as well and I currently hold the position of Assistant Coordinator.  This is experience I always hate to miss when natural disasters occur.  When I'm not out at my normal daily job, with the disaster team helping out victims of natural disasters, or chasing and spotting storms, I'm probably out with the Potosi Fire Department putting out fires and helping with medical emergencies.  With all of my excitement in life, I still have and very much enjoy serving as 3rd Lieutenant with the Potosi VFD.
