AS OF JANUARY 2009

My newest radio setup, Yaesu FT-2000. I’ve had it since Dec. 08,

and so far, very proud of it!. My other radio equipment consist of

a Yaesu FT-890AT, Icom 746 (Classic), and various Two Meter

radios and a 2m hand-held. My antennas are mostly home-brew,

except a 10 element Cushcraft 148-T / 2 meter beam, for SSB and

occasional 2 meter FM-(simplex). I also have a rebuilt Cushcraft

AP8 Vertical, which I use for 10 – 20 meters. It works surprisingly

well for being refurbished and rebuilt. That is one of my passions, to

fix things and make them work! That is all part of the hobby of

Ham Radio to me! Learn to fix your own equipment, build your own

antennas, get on the air and be heard!

MY BAND OPERATIONS AND PREFERENCES

For anyone who listens around the Bands, I normally work them all!

160 meters – Two Meter SSB. Very little Two Meter FM, these days! My

favorite Bands are in this order, 17 meters, 6 meters, 10 meters, and then

Two Meter SSB! But, I do like 75 and 160 meters when it is quite enough to

listen and work some local Rag Chewers! And, most of the time, I like to

rag chew, whenever I get the chance! I’m not a contester or DX’er by a long

shot! I do like to work other countries when there isn’t a big pile-up. Reason

being, because I don’t run any power, other than 100 watts out (barefoot)!

I don’t feel the need for extra power, when the conditions aren’t right!

MY EARLY INTEREST IN AMATEUR RADIO

In the early 1970’s, I became interested in the hobby and started messing

around with 11 meters some. That got me on the radio and got me going

at that time! Working 12/7 weekly, I could never get the extra time to study

the Morse Code and Electrical Theory of Radio. So, finally in 1992, I got the

time to buckle down and do it! Ever since that time, I’ve enjoyed the

hobby more and I find more things interesting about the hobby, every day!

Give it a try and you might like the Amateur Radio hobby yourself! Like

lots of other people, men and women have done over the decades! When

there was nothing but tube type equipment, (which is considered vintage

these days) And also when a roll of wire made excellent antennas to receive

and transmit on. And they still do, any ole day of the week!

Thanks for visiting my Amateur Radio Page and be sure to tune in

again for any updated information and resources.

Have a wonderful day!

And as we say in Ham Radio!

73 - Best regards!
