Configuring
DMR is not all that difficult to do. like I said before if you
have the technical ability to learn ham radio and get your ticket you
can learn DMR
Here
are some basic skills you will need to have or learn to properly
configure your hotspot and program your radio yourself, you do not need
a doctorate in computer science
For
Windows PC
A positive "can do" attitude
and some patience
Reliable Internet access
WiFi or a LAN network for the hotspot
Basic computing skills,
using a web browser, saving downloaded files, file system organization
and access
Basic
computer file system knowledge, creating and saving files
using Excel
or other spreadsheet programs for you code plug CSV files
Downloading and Installing
software and cable drivers, run CPS software to program
the radio
(Not
always the case) Accessing and configuring your computers
com ports you may need to use "device manager"
Basic
home WiFi network knowledge, connecting and disconnecting
wireless
devices to your home network, logging into your network router (not
always required)
The
easiest is using your LAN network on your router for a hotspot that
comes with a LAN port and a CAT-5 cable
If
you want to use your hotspot in the mobile you need to know how to
access your cellphones hotspot network data, creating an access point
and simple passkey
Pick a DMR network or
networks and gather a talk group list for them
Know your radio
and it's abilities (read the
manual)
If you
do not have all of these, don't
worry I do
I have walked others through
the entire process from start to finish over the phone and with
Facebook messenger,
from
taking the radio and the new hotspot out of the box to talking with me
on my talk group the more of this you learn the faster it will go
I
really do love doing this stuff and helping others with DMR
Don't feel comfortable doing
it?, let me do it
Once
you get these basics down and are able to at least function on DMR all
the rest will come with time and continued use
Have fun,
explore, it';s okay to make mistakes remember ham radio is a hobby not
professional radio
