Basic HTML Help

Help with Saveing and cut and paste

To work on the html file you first have to save it. While you are at the Home Sample Page goto the task bar to FILE then down and Click on SAVE DOCUMENT .Then you can load the file into any text editor and edit it. You can download a HTML Editor (I suggest WEBEDIT) you can click on the WEBEDIT link at the Bottom of this page to goto the site where you can get a 30 day free trial copy.

In any editor you can cut and paste and delete parts of the HTML file , and you can change the names of the GIF or JPG Files so that you can use your own Images.(remember while you are editing) DO NOT delete any SIMBLES or CHRS. other than the File Names . When changing the LINKS , DO NOT del the QUOTES at bothe ends of the link.

When first setting up your Home Page in the Dir.that your ISP sets up for you , place all your files and Images in the same DIR , then you don't have to worry about putting routes to them in your HTML file.

If you don't have a FTP Client You can get one at the FTP link on this Page.

When you finish working on your HTML File UPLOAD it to your server. It is best to NAME THE FILE INDEX.HTM then Upload it to the server then use the RENAME cmd in your FTP Client and Rename the INDEX.HTM file to INDEX.HTML .If you don't Ren it to the HTML ext. it will NOT work. Also you don't have to put the filename in your URL Path if you name your Main Page INDEX.HTML. After the Index file , all the other HTML files you put in your dir after the Main INDEX.HTML can have the HTM ext.

I'll be addind more help to this Page as I recv. Questions from those that need help.
