My 1979 Mercury Marquis

The Story

I just recently purchased this car from a local private seller in August 2003. He was located about 50 miles from me so we scheduled plans to me up to check out the car. He had it advertised for over a week with me being the car's first buyer look. I thoroughly inspected it, took it for a test drive, inspected it some more, than made the offer for $700, which was promptly accepted. He then took delivery the next day on it. The car itself is in pretty decent shape for a '79, rusted through a couple places on the rear bumper and a couple spots on the body, dented passenger-side door, and a couple scratches to go with the dent. The interior was in decent shape, headliner was off, tear in the driver's seat, AM-only radio doesn't work, but very comfortable. Runs and drives nice, with only 88,000 actual miles, I am the third owner of the car.

Future Plans

The car is currently awaiting paint and wheels. The interior needs some TLC. I also plan to put either a new 2-bbl carb on or convert to 4-bbl--it runs very rich the way it is now.
