It really is very bright! This is because it uses Trasers. Tritum is about 25x brighter than regular glow in the dark watch.

My Luminox was given to by Trina (my pretty-princess-wifey ) as an early Christmas present in 2000.

Here are some reasons why I like my Luminox :

• It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when I am away from home ( I know, it sounds kinda silly).
• When I was in Army Basic Training, it reminded me of home.
• When I am traveling for work: or being in the field for other reasons :
• in an airplane
• in a hotel room
• in a dark restuarant
• etc. etc.
  

• It is 25x brighter, than a regular watch.
  • It is so bright that in a farm field at night, my wife saw the watch from over 10 feet away!
  • When you enter a darkened area, it takes about 20 minutes for your night vision to start working. During this time, I am able to read the time on my Luminox. With the glow in dark watches, you eyes need to adjust to the darkness before you can read the time.
  • In certain enviornments (i.e. movie theaters, driving a car at night, etc.) the light levels can rapidly change. Your eyes never fully adjust, but the Traser are so bright, yo can always see the time, no matter to what level your eyes are adjusted to.

• Single Handed Operation
  • The watch is always luminous, so it is not a two handed operation.
  • Sometimes you are engaged in an activity that does not allow you to free up both hands.
    For example :
    • Driving
    • Bike Riding
    • Tower Climbing
    • Kayaking
    • Hiking/Packing
    • Any Activity that requires the use of at least one hand

• It is very ruggedly built, so I use it as my field-watch

I do have a Aqua (a division of Timex) with Indiglo, I call it my Matthew-Watch because I got it the day before Matthew came home from the hospital.

The Indiglo is so bright that it can kill your night vision, it will then take about another 20 minutes to get your night vison back.

There still a certain amount of functionality that my Aqua has that my Luminox doesn't have, such as :

• easy access to a mini-flashlight
  • after all, it is on your wrist
  • this function can be replicated with the use of solitare maglight, though it requires pulling it out of your pocket and putting it back once your done
• can use it to signal people
  • this function can also be replicated with the use of solitare maglight
