My
Satellite Station
Mobile
Station
For my mobile station, my set-up consists of :
·
FT-8900 Mobile transceiver
·
Dual Band Mobile Antenna
·
~19” high and has a coil in the middle
·
NMO mount
·
You do NOT want to use a high gain antenna.
·
The radiation pattern is too narrow on UHF for satellite work
·
Station Enclosure
·
2005 Chevrolet Aveo… a.k.a. Bumblee-Bee
Mobile
Station – Version 2
Sometimes I want to work the LEOSATs lower in the horizon, so I
use an Arrow Antenna.
·
FT-8900 Mobile transceiver
·
NMO to UHF Adapter plus co-ax run
·
Tripod to mount the antenna on
·
Arrow LEOSAT Antenna
·
The 3 elements on 2 meters help me compete with other stations when
the LEOSAT is lower in the sky
Portable
Station
For my portable station, I have a 1 Piece Downlink.
·
3 element cubical quad antenna
·
HTX-400 on the boom.
Works great!!!
I have heard the LEOSATs down to ~5 degrees.
For uplink I will use an HT for a quiet pass, or crossband into my
FT-8900.
When I crossband, I use 6 meters because 70
centimeters will cause desense in the HTX-400.
