Honda 2014 CTX700 Add Ons
In June of 2016 I bought a 2014 CTX700 leftover. As with all of my "toys", I like to make them my own but keeping in mind what the next owner might think. That way I dont do really far fetched modifications which may make resale even worse than it will enevitably be! These pages are an attempt at documenting the efforts.
The picture to the left was taken the day it came home. As of The end of August 2016 the OEM "rear carrier" and a USB power hub in the fairing are installed. A Garmin Nuvi 57LM was stuffed inside a handlebar mount that came from Ebay.
A Bestem top box was completed by mid October. Two red LED strips and a pair of white ones now line the inside of the Bestem's "lens". A brake light flasher and a laser stop line were thrown into the mix just for fun.
TOP BOX Install
After reading everything I could find about top boxes and the mounts for them, I made a decision to go with the OEM rear carrier and a Bestem top box. Other manufacturers like Givi and Shad have specific mounts for their boxes. Using Shad's mount prevents the installation of an aftermarket seat like a Corbin. The other factor is that Neither Givi or Shad provided enough information about the brackets!
USB Power HUB / GPS

The idea of speading $500 on a "motorcycle" GPS didn't agree with my checkbook. The Garmin Nuvi57LM was about $100 from BJ's Club and the mount was less than $15 from Ebay. The case is 10 times the required thickness, but it works well.

Extra Lights!
This project ended up morphing into the top box installation. I caution the reader to take the time to read ALL of the information before jumping into adding the LEDS.
