Our class always goes on many field trips each year.  Check here frequently to find out where we are planning to go next.  We are always in need of drivers, so let me know if you are able to drive for any of the trips below:

Friday, October 26, 2001

Destination:  James Marshall State Historic Park
Time of Departure:  8:30 A.M.
Time of Return:  3:30 P.M.
Transportation Arrangements:  Parents and staff.
Cost:  None.  Students should bring lunch money or a bag lunch.
Details:  Students will tour the site where gold was discovered in January, 1848.

Friday, Nove Thursday, November 8, 2000

Destination:  IMAX Theater and Golden State Museum Tour
Time of Departure:  8:00 A.M.
Time of Return:  3:30 P.M.
Transportation Arrangements:  Parents and staff.
Cost:  The School will cover the students’ fees and fees for 4 adult drivers in addition to the staff.  Students should bring lunch money or a bag lunch.
Details:  We will attend a 9:00 A.M. showing of “Wild California” at the IMAX Theater, followed by a 45-minute workshop on the California Bear Flag, and then tour the Golden State Museum at about 2:00 P.M.

Tuesday, November 13, 2001

Destination:  Sutter’s Fort (previsit)
Time of Departure:  11:00 A.M.
Time of Return:  3:30 P.M.
Transportation Arrangements:  Parents and staff.
Cost:  None.  Students should bring lunch money or a bag lunch.
Details:  We will tour Sutter’s Fort at 12 Noon, take a lunch break and then tour it some more.

Tuesday, November 27, 2000

Destination:  Sutter's Fort (for the ELP!)
Time of Departure:  Students will leave CFS at 8:00 A.M. to go to the California State Train Museum in Old Sacramento.  From there they will be picked up at 9:00 A.M. and transported by covered wagon to Sutter's Fort.  Parents volunteers should be at the Fort by 8:00 A.M. to set up stations.
Time of Return:  Students will be returned to the school at approximately 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 28.
Transportation Arrangements:  Parents and staff.
Cost:  Approximately $30 per student, depending on the success of fund raising efforts.
Details:  (Tentative schedule) Students will arrive at the Fort at approximately 9:45 A.M.  There will be a brief orientation, and then they will tour the State Indian Museum adjacent to the Fort from 10:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.  They will rotate in small groups between the stations every 30-40 minutes from 11:00 A.M. until lunch at 1:00 P.M.  From 1:30 P.M.- 5:00 they will rotate through the various stations.  Dinner will be served sometime around 5:30 - 6:00 P.M.  An evening of music and dancing will follow with lights out by around 9:30 P.M., though groups will be awakened for night guard duty every 30-45 minutes throughout the night.  Students and volunteers will leave after breakfast and cleanup the next morning.

Wednesday, December 6, 2000

Destination:  Gray Lodge Wildlife Refuge, near Live Oak
Time of Departure:  7:00 A.M.
Time of Return:  3:30 P.M.
Transportation Arrangements:  Parents and staff.
Cost:  None for the tour.  Students bring lunch money or a bag lunch.
Details:  We will tour this wildlife preserve located west of Live Oak on the north side of the Sutter Buttes.  This is the time of year when many thousands of ducks and geese from Canada and other northern areas have migrated for winter nesting.
