PARKSpot User Guide

Thank you for using PARKSpot.

This applet was designed for use by U.S. park activators to enable quick and easy spotting of locations identified in the World Wide Floral and Fauna (WWFF) program in the United States.

For more information on World Wide Floral and Fauna program please go to http://wwff.co.
For more information on the U.S. based WWFF-KFF program please go to http://wwff-kff.org.

Use of this web based applet is fairly simple. It is text based and should operate on any computer, tablet or phone that has Internet connectivity. This will also reduce the amount of data used when away from Wifi resources. You must be connected to the Internet with a cell signal or wifi to access and use this applet.

There are two main sections to the PARKSpot display. The upper portion of the display prepares and sends spot information to the W6RK County Hunter spot site. The lower portion of the display prepares and sends spot information to the WWFF Watch site. Since each site requires different information in a differing format, two sections are required.

Running GMT/UTC Date and Time
Just under the header of the applet you will find a running GMT/UTC date and time clock. This is useful for logging purposes while using PARKSpot.

Select STATE
This drop down list allows you to select your desired state. Each state is its own file but the operation and appearance is the same. THE CHANGE IN STATE WILL ONLY BE INDICATED BY A CHANGE TO THE STATE NAME IN THE HEADER.

Select PARK
This drodown list provides access all approved parks in this state along with their associated county or counties and, in some instances states.

NOTE: Where parks are in more than one county and/or state there are multiple listings for that park. Please verify the county from which you are activating through the COUNTY Check function described below and select the county in which you are located before posting.

When you select a park, that park and related county information will appear in the LOCATION text box in the upper portion of the display. Further comments or editing may be added there if desired.

COUNTY Check
Tapping on the COUNTY Check link will take you to another site. Without further action the county in which you are presently located should appear at the bottom left of the display.

NOTE: Location services must be enabled on your phone, tablet, or computer for this function to work properly.

COUNTY Maps
Tapping on the COUNTY Maps link will take you to another site. There you will find an outline map of the United States. Tap on the state for which you want to view the counties. A new map of that state displaying each of the counties will appear. Tap the BACK button twice to return to PARKSpot.

NOTE: The same United States map will appear with any of the state selections in PARKSpot.

PRE-FILLED TEXT BOXES
You may have some text boxes pre-filled with your specific information. If you wish to edit these boxes, simply tap at a place in that box and begin editing.

The SPOTTER CALL and ACTIVATOR pre-filled text boxes are slightly reduced in size to save space on the display. This is because these are the least likely fields to require editing. Even though reduced in size these fields in both the upper and lower portions of the display may still be edited manually.

NOTE: You may edit any information in any text box in the Spot... sections of the applet.

FREQUENCY
In PARKSpot (compared to MoSpot) this field is entered manually. NOTE that as you enter information in this field it will be duplicated in the lower FREQUENCY field listed in the WWFF portion of the display. This upper FREQUENCY field is the ONLY place to edit the frequency. The lower FREQUENCY text box is READ ONLY.

Send to W6RK Spot
Tapping this button will send the information shown in the SPOT... area. Please review this information before sending the spot. When you tap on this button, you will be taken to the W6RK spot website. Simply press the back button to return to your program.

Links
Near the middle of the display you will see three links. These links will vary based upon which program you are in.

The W6RK Spots link will take you to the W6RK spotting site. This allows you to see whether anyone is running on a specific frequency before you post in case you cannot hear them.

The DX Summit link will take you directly to the DX Summit site in order to post your park activation on the clusters if desired. This is a time saver for the activator.

The MoSpot link will allow you to switch between applets in the selected state quickly. This is particularly useful for those participating in both County Hunting and WWFF-KFF that may run counties using MoSpot prior to getting to a park and then switch to PARKSpot to run the park.

The lower WWFF portion of the display is similar to the County Hunter section with a few differences. Just as in the upper portion, the Spotter Call and Activator text boxes are prefilled to save you time.

LOCATION
This dropdown list provides you with the KFF ID for all WWFF approved locations in the selected state. Click on the dropdown and make your selection.

FREQUENCY
This lower FREQUENCY text box shows READ ONLY. As mentioned previously as you complete the FREQUENCY text box in the upper portion of the display that information will be duplicated here. Any edits to this information MUST be made in upper text box.

MODE
This is a required field by the WWFF Watch system and is a dropdown providing a list of various modes for selection as well as an option for "Other."

COMMENT
This field is prepopulated with the state name of your selected state. This field may be edited if desired.
