Digital Equipment is from our
San Diego division
- Thanks to Bob Epsom for the contact in San Diego.
- Kevin Van Winkle in San Diego found us the digital satellite RX,
the TMX2010, The ATSC modulator, The HDD1100 monitor, and an ATSC
monitor receiver. He has provided a lot of help to get the
digital system working. With out his help we could not have put the
system on the air.
What is the new system
configuration?
- C band satellite receiver is now the digital D9850 from
Scientific Atlanta.
- The sub-channel assignment is done in the TMX2010 from Moto.
- The exciter is an ATSC modulator at 44MHz and sent up the cable
to sector HQ via the 75 Ohm cable that was used for the baseband video.
- The exciter output is then up converted to the carrier center
frequency of 1265MHz.
- A custom 1265MHz PA was built from scratch using 2 Black Bear II
devices. Jeff Frei provided the samples and matching data.
- We used Jeff’s evaluation boards and had some extras made.
- Mike assembled the evaluation boards and used the Smith 32
program to select the cap values and location. Thanks to Mr.
Pederson in Copenhagen for the Smith 32 program.
- The completed PA is shown in the next slide.
