When Bob Baird, W9NN (SK), of Stevens Point,Wisconsin, celebrated 80 years as a ham, I realized that I had been a ham for half that time.
While 80 years as a ham is a nearly unique event, 40 years is quite common. Most of my old ham friends have been in ham radio longer - much longer.
So, in recognition of this non-event, I've decided to celebrate by allowing you web gawkers to view my extensive collection of awards and certificates that I've been hoarding during those many years of calling CQ.

"Why do you want to run away? Sit down and have a drink! I'll pay." So I sat down. He asked me several things, but I couldn't answer, indeed I didn't even understand his questions. So I said: "Perhaps you are sorry now that you invited me, so I'd better go," and I was about to get up. But he stretched his hand out over the table and pressed me down. "Stay," he said, "that was only a test. He who does not answer the questions has passed the test." From "The Test", a parable by Franz Kafka. |
"If there is one thing I've learned about this hobby, it is this: Amateur Radio isn't about equipment or contest points or certificates or even rare DX. Amateur Radio is about people." - NM7R |
"I believe that to have a friend, a man must be one". From "The Lone Ranger Creed" by Fran Striker. |
