I > would tap the key and the fan instantly sped up as if connected to the key! 73 I did not think anyone would want to change the hftx fan speed and beware the 706 does need airflow when using hf! but you have a few options with the tx fan speed i think looking at the curcuit!! if you remove R 42 1k small smd, located between Q15 and the electrolitic cap close to the fan plug that should disable the fast fan in tx and it should just run normal rx speed or the speed after the first mod but i would not recomend doing the first mod if you disable the fast speed on tx. or another option could be R 41 22 ohm large smd close to the back edge of the board right next to fan plug and replace it with a higher value half watt that should slow down both tx and tx fan speed but still alow a faster fan speed when in tx you would need to try a few value's to find one you are comfortable with! anyway let me know how you get on if you try one or the other sugestion i looked at doing somthing because it was so anoying hearing the fan running when the radio was quiet. good luck! --
