TimTron Invades Southern California!!!
A few of us were pleasantly surprised by the sound of TimTron WA1HLR's voice this evening on 3870 KC, but why was it so loud and local sounding? Had propagation suddenly drastically improved? Did TimTron, with the help of some of his mercenary buddies take over the VOA? It turns out that Tim had business in the Los Angeles area and this evening was a guest operator at the shack of Mike KO6NM. Unfortunately I was having some audio trouble tonight, and there is a noticeable hum in some of the tracks. Here are a few audio clips of what transpired. A fun evening was had by all.

Here's part of an audio clip that David W6PSS in Ramona, CA sent me. David was taped by Dave W9AD in Barrington Hills, Ill on 14286 KC. David's Audio is excellent on his Globe King 500B! David's audio chain includes a Sennheiser 421 microphonium, a BIAMP 8/83 Board, and a Fostex 3070 Compressor/Limiter with 10mS of attack and .2 second release. His antenna is a 20M 3 element Telrex with 24' spacing up 70'. Look for Dave daily on 14286, and 1885 KC and on 7290 KC on Saturday Nights! Plus he's been known to show up on 3870 KC from time to time.
