Z Match Tuner

Turn the "TUNE/WORK" switch to the "TUNE" position.

Turn the "IMPEDANCE" switch to either "LOW" or "HIGH" (start with "LOW" for typical wire antennas).

Set both the "LOAD" and "TUNE" knobs to the center position (e.g., 5 on a 0-10 scale).

Tune for minimum SWR:

Briefly key the transmitter at a low power setting.

The LED on the SWR meter will light up.

Adjust the "LOAD" knob until the LED is as dim as you can get it.

Adjust the "TUNE" knob until the LED is at its dimmest point.

You may need to go back and forth between the "LOAD" and "TUNE" knobs a few times, as there can be some interaction between them.

Troubleshoot the impedance setting:

If the LED doesn't get sufficiently dim, flip the "IMPEDANCE" switch to the other position and repeat the adjustment process from step 3.

Even if the LED doesn't go out completely, you can still achieve a good match.

Switch to operate:

Once the LED is at its minimum brightness, switch the "TUNE/WORK" switch to the "WORK" position.

You can now transmit at full power. Repeat if needed: It's a good practice to make a note of the control settings for each band. If you need to fine-tune further, you can make small adjustments to the "LOAD" and "TUNE" knobs to get the LED even dimmer.
