I was first granted an amateur radio license in May of 1997 (first KD5AKO and now K5AEA), and I now hold the highest class of amateur radio license issued by the FCC, the Amateur Extra Class. For more informaiton on Amateur Radio, visit the site of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).
I haven't been very active in amateur radio this past semester because of the school workload, but I did use the APRS position reporting system extensively during my summer travels so that my position was updated in real time over the internet (see the where link at top left for more information, although I don't keep the system on while my car is just sitting somewhere).
I had the priveledge to operate under the callsign YS1/K5AEA during the Chi Alpha mission trip to El Salvador during the summer of 2001.
My major interests in radio have always been in desinging hardware, especially antennas and antenna systems. I also enjoy experimenting will all of the various facets of amateur radio, including wireless digital systems, HF worldwide communications via voice and morse code, and slow and fast-scan television.
I hope to get more involved in a radio club in the Fort Worth area as school and work permit, and I will undoubtedly be operating Field Day somewhere, probably with the Lockheed Martin Amateur Radio Club.
