SHACK SHOT OF BILL CARTER, KG4FXG:

The equipment that you see in the picture is an ICOM-746 with an ICOM SP-21 speaker.  I use the Dell laptop for my logbook and notes when I call the net on KSN.  I have not hooked it up to the ICOM with a TNC.  Everyone tells me you can then see the letters of code being sent.  I just tell them I do it the old-fashioned way, I lean forward and tilt my head and listen attentively.  I use an Astron RS-35M power supply and the microphone that is pushed under the shelf is an ICOM SM-8.  It is great for holding my cue cards.  The straight key is a Hi-Mound HK-706 and the paddles are Benchers.  I also use a Vibroplex Vibrokeyer and Code Warrior.  Behind me is a small table that has my soldering station and some kits that I am building.  The dog in the picture is Gypsy, my Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog.  She also loves CW...........Bill, KG4FXG.

Bill Carter participated in the Bluegrass Holiday Traffic Jam, and won the the drawing for participants.  Since he already has an operating manual, chose The ARRL Basic Electronics Book.
Bill's wife is a teacher and has just finished her Masters Degree, and, with some of her fellow teachers,  has published a  Science Workbook.  Bill used the opportunity to send radiograms to relatives about these achievements.  He also invites new hams he has worked to check into KSN via radiograms.
